CLAN's Framework for Action

"Maximizing quality of life for all children living with chronic medical conditions in resource-poor countries of the world by supporting:

1. Access to affordable medication and equipment
2. Education (of children, families, health professionals, policy makers and the international community)
3. Optimal medical management
4. Family Support Group networks
5. Alleviation of poverty by reducing financial burdens and helping families to find a pathway to financial independence

so that all members of the international community can enjoy healthy and happy lives, and know that their neighbours care."

* JFK lived with a chronic medical condition called Addison's Disease. It is similar in many ways to Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), a condition that all of the children in the above left photo have, and can be treated with hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone tablets (as in the photo above right).
